How Floatation Therapy Can Improve Your Total Wellbeing

Floatation therapy has become wildly popular over the past few years. The history of its development dates back to more than 60 years ago with the research pioneered by the famous neuroscientist Dr John C Lilly. At the time he was studying the effects that R.E.S.T (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique) has on the brain.

Floatation Therapy: What is it?

Floatation therapy also known as sensory deprivation is the practice of making a patient achieve complete relaxation. This is achieved by making the patient lie on his back in a floatation pod or chamber, designed to block our external distractions such as noise and light. The pod is filled to a depth of 10 inches with a super-saturated salt solution of 1000lb of Epsom salt.
Once inside the chamber, you float around effortlessly and gradually drift into a deep sleeplike meditative state. Thus the body and mind are totally relaxed during each session. The air and water are maintained at skin temperature (35.5°C), so you can hardly tell what part of your body is in the fluid and what part is not.
